Hi,

I have an intel Imac running snow leopard.

I recently returned from a holiday to discover that it was completely dead, after opening it up I noticed there was a scorch mark below the PSU. I replaced the PSU and hey presto it came alive.

Only problem now is that it wont shut down, only reset. If I select shut down, it goes through the normal procedure then just resets rather than shutting down. If I select sleep, it goes to sleep then wakes again immediately!

I have reset the SMC but no luck

Thanks

Sad story there. I don't see a question, so I'll supply one: Is it under warranty?

It may have been right up until he replaced the PSU.

Does this happen if you close all apps, but then (instead of shutting down) press and hold the power button for four seconds?

I'm asking only to gather additional data; this is NOT a good way to routinely shut down your Mac.

Okay, what about if you log out of your account and shut down from there?
