Hi all i just recently registered here after finally owning my own mac, its nothing amazing but its a g5 2.5 quad... i got a question for you guys and gals..... i brought the g5 from ebay (eeek!) it was advertised as a dual core but its actually a quad, the one cpu has frazzled so he has removed it hence why its now dual, anyway can i get a replacement to make it quad again, and if so where from ? i have tried google with pretty much no luck. any comments welcome.

Thanks

you can buy the quad, but stock is $1600/$1250 exchange (for late 2005 G5).

Unless you can find a dead G5 for cheap with processors intact.

And if you check out threads originated by baggss you will see the machine is liquid cooled with a tremendous amount of work changing the processors. Not worth it so use as is. Maybe that is why it was so cheap?

Yes will take up to 16GB memory but must be installed as matched pairs. Also high density PC memory will not work in Macs. Go to OWC at this link and check specs then shop around:-
