I had been waiting to buy a Mac Pro because several people, and some web resources, were saying there will be an improved Mac Pro in January or February of 2010. The intro of the iPad has come and gone, with no mention of other new products?

Is that it, so I should just go ahead and get the current Mac Pro?

their big announcement was for the iPad and they not have any plans in the works, that anyone knows if they'll release any new products this year.

I think its a safe bet that you can just order the Mac Pro and stop waiting to buy it

Are you doing heavy 3D rendering? If not, just buy it now.

I would like to be able to run solid modeling CAD software, such as Solidworks.

Just because people are saying there is going to be a release does not mean it is true. The year is not over yet don't jump to conclusions.
