I just ordered the new 27" Imac about a week ago (December 9th) and I got the i7 and 8gb ram (4x2) as the only upgrades. The cost was around $2450. I got an order conformation email soon after from apple and it said that my imac was only $2300. It also said it would be shipped on December 23 and delivered by the 29th. But today I got an email saying it was shipped today (the 14th) and will arrive on the 16th. Of course a lower price and faster ship date is great but is this normal? This is my first mac and was wondering if this is normal for apple. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, I've heard of both happening. In fact, the shipping is often faster than originally estimated.

Was the price in the email lower than the price it said on the website. And it's good to know I'm not the only one this is happening to.

I ordered a 27 incher 3.06 ghz Duo with 512 mb video upgrade on Oct 28 and haven't seen it yet. What kind of magic wands are you guys waving? Can I use it?

It was my understanding the video card was the hang-up. But, it's good to hear that other people with upgrades are getting their machines, though; hopefully mine is in the pipeline somewhere.

Yes it was, left Anchorage, AK today at 4:04 PM headed toward the east coast for delivery tomorrow by 6:00. So I guess I will be unpacking my new iMac i7 tomorrow night. This is my first mac ever, hope all goes well.

Mine was shipped from Shanghai also, and is supposed to arrive today before 10:30 a.m. Unfortunately I have to wait until Christmas before I can opne it up and use it.

Never happen. I'll bet it's opened, up, and running beautifully right now. And don't worry, I won't tell Santa.

I'm going to try to sneak it out for an hour or two... It's hard to wait when you know it's just waiting to be used.

My 27" IMac was ordered on Dec 1, and was scheduled to ship on the 16th and to be delivered on the 21th.

But it shipped on the 11th and was scheduled by Apple to be delivered on the 15th, and by Fedex on the 16th, but got here late on the 14th. Nice.

Watched it go from Shanghi to Anchorage to Memphis to Dallas.

I am trying to findd out what week my imac was made in and I have read in multiple places that you can figure this out by looking at the order number sent in the shipment confirmation email. I have read that the 3rd and 4th numbers show what week it is. For example W54507846 would mean that Imac is a week 50. My order number however is W6679xxxx meaning I have a week 79 Imac which is not even possible. My imac has been delivered but I can't open it until Christmas where I will be able to find out if it has the yellow tinge, cracked screen, flickering screen etc... This is my first purchase of a mac and if it is not working, it will be a huge dissapointment considering it is a christmas present. Right now I'm praying that it works and does not have any problems.

Sorry if this is answered elsewhere......I've got one on the way......I'm curious what knowing which week would tell you about its chances of being flawed when you pull it out the box and fire it up.
