Hi all, first time posting here with an odd problem. On my account yesterday, all the views are screwy as seen by the picture I'm attaching below. I don't know if my kids played with it and adjusted something, but my wife's settings are fine, and when I created a new account it was fine too, so it's not a monitor thing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sorry, but have no idea what you mean by "screwy" based on that pic.

Me neither. All I can see is the wallpaper isn't stretched to fit the screen and there are too many icons on the desktop, but that's just my personal tastes...

Everything on the screen is perfectly legible though and I'm not sure what your referring to really?

looks like someone has played a trick on you and inverted the screen colors

Hold down the ctrl+option+command keys and then press the 8 key.

See if that clears it up.

Or it looks like, just inverted the colors on the background. Second pic is a camera capture isn't it?

On 2nd thought, it looks like it's limited to 16 colors or something.

This would be changed in SystemPreferences - Displays - verify resolution and then check under the color tab.

Hey Bob,

I have a windows keyboard so I don't think that this:

Hold down the ctrl+option+command keys and then press the 8 key.

works, but I may be wrong. is there another way? As for the display change, I try to set it to 1440x900, and then pick millions for colors, but that is where it looks the worst, as seen in the camera taken picture. It looks better but still pretty rough when I select 256 colors, but that setting doesn't stick. I'm thinking that it's got to be my 2 year old just randomly hitting the keyboard.

Any other ideas?

I believe the equivalent Windows keyboard command would be control+alt+windows key + 8. You can duplicate that sequence by going to System Preferences and selecting the "Universal Access" preference pane. Click the "Seeing" tab. My settings are Black on white with the contrast somewhere near "Normal".

Yeah, because the desktop and dock are not inverted.

Try setting it back to millions of colors and then go to the color tab and make sure Color LCD is the selection there.

From there I'd go back and forth between one of the other accounts and see what differences you can find in the Displays preference pane.
