hi.. noob here with a broken dvd..

is there a list of dvd writers i can look at to see what will be compatible as i need to buy a new internal dvd rw?.

bare in mind im based in the uk lol.

G'day from down under and welcome to the forums.

Best of the lot is Pioneer imo. Look for a 20X DL machine for about $40 (twenty quid or so) and they are a cinch to install, only difficult part is removing the power connector. Struth they are tight. A pair of needle nose pliers and pull on the nylon clip, not the wires.

Sites such as xlr8yourmac.com have how-to's complete with photos.

g`day from the uk.....so i can go into a shop( or ebay) and get almost any pioneer dvd writer and it will be ok with no issues??

i did try xlr8 but when i put my machine combo in, it didnt come up with anything lol...

Yes Pioneer are recognised by Apple Macs as native, make sure you get an ATAPI IDE model and not SATA.. News units are as cheap as chips - $39 here down under. Odd the link works for me. The full address if you like to copy it is:-
