Use iMac as macMini's display

hi,

i was wondering if it is possible to use an old g3 iMac as the display for the macMini, so no extra money has to be spent (montior+kbord+mouse)

well lets look at what you have vs what you need.

Mac mini .. outputting video through DVI (or VGA adapter). and you have an old G3 iMac, with no video input.

short answer: no.
even though you could probably feed the video in with firewire through an input device, or take apart the iMac housing and adapt the input for VGA. but that would probably be more work than spending $50 for a 15" CRT.

If $$ are whats stopping you (assuming you live in or near a moderate sized city) shop all the consumer electronics stores for either clearances on CRTs or but a floor/demo model

You could buy Elegato's (Or some variation of that) EyeTV, which allows you to send a video signal into your iMac. However, it would be both cheaper and simpler to just buy a new moniter from your local retailer. In fact, Dell sells a number of good LCD's a great prices.
