I have connected my imac via audio out to my speakers and it works great, but is there anyway to only play selected audio (i.e. music) through the audio out and then have all other audio play on the computer speakers? I don't really need to hear my email chime play from my 500 watt speakers.

Audio notifications can be turned off, but whatever sound your computer generates, that's what comes out your 500 watt speakers (which would actually look much better in MY livingroom)
