mac mini not recognizing new monitor

I have a mac mini, and I just bought a new samsung monitor. my old monitor used a RGB cable, and I had an adapter for the input on the mac. my new monitor came with both RGB and DVI cables. I plugged it in using the RGB first, but the monitor wasn't picking up a signal, just flashing between analog, digital and hdmi. I switched to the DVI cable and it worked. About an hour later I restarted the computer, and the monitor went back to flashing analog, digital and hdmi again. I've tried switching the cables back and forth multiple times, they're tight enough, and I've called samsung, who told me it was a driver issue ( but why was it working before??) but they don't have drivers for mac. can anybody out there help??? I don't have an extra monitor to test if it's the video card, but I don't think that's the issue since it was working just a couple hours ago. Thank You!

PPC minis can have resolution issues, but start by giving the speed in GHz of the Mini. Can you go back to using the old monitor and go in and select a lower standard resolution then reboot with new monitor connected to see if it boots in that lower res. Had a PPC Mini which would not support a resolution that was within Apples specs and ended up using SwitchRes application, but not sure that will work with Intel Mini.
