Hi all,

I used to be anti-mac. Then I tried one of Apples products, now I love them.

So, I'm solidly in the iPhone camp, and I'm thinking about making the switch to the iMac camp as well. I'm looking at the new 27" mac with the quad core, and I was wondering about RAM. Is the 4gigs enough to run the OS as well as basic office work (Word, Excell..etc), as well as some video games (mostly WOW)?

The video card is fine from what I gather, but I was just curious about the RAM and if it's worth the $200 to go for 8gigs.

Although there's no Blu-Ray player, I think that the screen will make up for it. Plus, the design is beautiful.

It's either the iMac, or a new Dell with a smaller HD screen, Blu-Ray and a better graphics card.... I'm thinking the iMac though.

Anyways, feedback is appreciated!

Thank you!

4GB is more than enough to run MS Office and WoW

Don't believe there would be any reason for the typical computer user to have more than 4GB RAM with OS X.

Ran WoW for 2 years on mine with 2 GB RAM and no issues.

2GB is more than enough for everyday computing actually. It's nice to have more RAM for gaming though.

Thanks!

Yea, I Googled the requirements, but usually the requirements are much less than needed for optimal performance.

Bad news about the updated shipment dates though

2GB of RAM serves me fine and i'm somewhat of a power user. I'll upgrade to 4GB, but for you, I don't think you'll run into any problems using the base configuration of 4GB.

4 gigs is never enough i plan on using 16GB just my email. j/k 4gb is starting to be the standard in most computers now. but is is most certainly more than most people need on a day to day basis.
