iMac - Use iMac screen to play the ps3

I'm pretty sure this has been asked many times, but is it possible? I have a 24" iMac. I was thinking (which means it probably wont work!) If I could get one of these:  And plug it in here:  Then just connect it to the back of the ps3 and then I could play away on the ps3 using my iMac screen. Would this work?
