Power Mac - G4 display issues

I've recently had my old G4 repartitioned with two drives. After having had this done - whenever I start my mac the monitor displays the desktop weirdly by stepping/repeating the menu bar as well as any folder icons on the desktop. If just left as is it's very difficult to navigate around the desktop or finder because the monitor displays everything repetitively. I need to select the displays dialogue within system preferences and change the resolution of my display in order for it to display correctly. Once I've changed this setting, I can then go back to the original resolution and everything's fine. However, I'm wanting to eliminate this step if possible.
I assume the hard drive partitioning is somewhat to blame. Is there a way around this problem occurring?

G'day and welcome to the forums Tex.

Do you mean you have partitioned your hard drive into two partitions, or added another (second) drive? If it is the latter and you have an OS installed on each drive, did you set up with the master/slave jumpers as the second drive must be set to slave?

Thanks. I've had issues trying to locate the correct slave jumper configuration for the Maxtor drive that I have. Once I find it I'll give this a crack and hopefully resolve the monitor issues I'm having.
