Try these suggestions courtesy of Macintouch Forums:-
CD Drawer Opening At Startup Dave Howe Re: the G5 CD drawer opening at startup: My guess is that that G5 has it's startup preference set to a System on a CD...go to System preferences/Startup Disk and switch it to your hard drive. Ron Aldrich It sounds to me like the eject button on the front of the DVD drive is stuck, or shorted. When a disc is inserted, the Mac locks it into the drive, but when the computer reboots, it resets the drive, which then checks to see if the button is pressed, and ejects the tray. Michael Wroobel Are you using a USB to PS/2 adapter on the machine? If you unplug your keyboard and mouse does the problem go away? David Charlap Most Macs open the tray on bootup if you hold down a mouse button during the boot sequence. This happened to me when my Mac was brand new and I had not yet removed the plastic adhesive film from the mouse. It's also been known to happen if a USB hub is defective and the Mac thinks there's a mouse button held down at boot time. |
