I want to buy a desktop mac. I'm looking for either the Imac or the Mac Pro. I will be wanting to do heavy film/video and music editing. Although I don't have much money at the moment, I dont have a budget and can always wait to get one (this isnt urgent). I was wondering what specs would I need to most likely look for in what I need to do. I'm starting up a small home studio and I am becoming a film major in college.

Since the only iMac with a decent graphics adapter(NVIDIA GT 130 512 Mb or ATI Radeon 4850 512 Mb GDDR3) is the 24" model with a 2,93 GHz CPU your choice is limited, as for the MacPro you can add whatever GPU you want, and RAM can be added up to 32 GB's.

So in your line of study/work that may be the best option to go with.
But it all depends on how long you can hold out, cause it does tend to get rather expensive.

Regards
