System Preferences>display>check the box for mirroring

And of course, have the adapter and cord plugged into both the Mac and tv.

eMac 1.5ghz, 256mb ram, 40gb hdd, Sony cd burner

You will need the MDP to VGA adapter

Along with something like this to get from VGA to composite or s-video.
