You know how on an iMac (or iBook for that matter), before it turns the screen off altogether, it darkens the screen to conserve energy?
Well on my iMac it will auto-darken to about 70% brightness, and when I move the mouse it will auto-brighten again to 100%, but then moments later auto-darken again back to ~70%. If I leave it idle again it will auto-darken to 50%, then auto-brighten back to 70%...and so on. Once it does that, I cannot get it to go bright again unless I put the Mac to sleep, then wake it up, or restart. If i go to the brighten controls (F14-F15) it claims to be at full brightness, but that's clearly not the case. What's the deal?! Can I just turn the auto-darken thing off? coz it's not a big deal on a desktop PC anyway. I couldn't find anything in Energy Saver. Thanx in advance Last edited by thendis; 03-18-2005 at 11:14 PM. |

I have taken so long to respond because I have been waiting for my Mac to do it again so I could have a look in Display and try things out. Unfortunately/fortunately it hasn't done it again since?! even though it was doing it almost every time the screen darkened for 2 days. I donno - maybe I had done something without realising it. If it does it again I will update this thread. Thanx anyway
