Does anyone know how easy it is to upgrade an iMac after you have had it a while?

The question is rather vague. Upgrading generally only involves RAM or drives (hard disk, combo -->Superdrive); both of which are user DIY.

ram = easy
hard drive = not so easy and you can google directions to do it but you have to remove the screen to get to it
graphics card = no

not sure what else you might be thinking

What model year of iMac are you referring to? If you're referring to a new iMac, then the only upgrades would be either memory or the hard drive. Memory is easy, the hard drive is not.
