What kind of errors are you getting? Have you run an md5 check against the image? It sounds like it could very well be a bad image.

they kept saying that the one track was smaller on the disc than on the iso.
i have no clue what that test is.
i got it off the xubuntu site it was newest version jaunty jackalope.
the errors didn't happen until imgburn started to verify the disc.
i also have roxio creator de but when i tried burning ubuntu with that it didnt work.
and if your wondering why i only want the live cd is because i like messing around with older stuff.
any ideas?

i've been looking at older versions of xubuntu only because i dont think i have much ram. how do you find how much ram you have in os 8.6 cause i think wouldn't it be the same as the virtual memory.

every time i install ubuntu i last a few days before finally tearing my hair out and dumping it.

its lacking in drivers, and installing things can sometimes be such a pita.

having said that it is free

im not trying to install it i just want the live cd cause i can do so much more on ubuntu than i can on os 8.6 i mean it's impossible to find stuff for os classic. could it be that the cds are too small for the xubuntu cause it only leaves about 4 mb. and i cant use a dvd since the mac doesn't have a dvd drive. wait can you attach cd drives to macs through usb ports or not cause i have 2 dvd drives laying around.

This, I can't tell you. Perhaps someone more proficient in older versions of Mac OS can help you with that.

My guess is that the Ubuntu team no longer supports 6.06 as they have released a new LTS version since (8.04). If that is the case, I wouldn't use it. Try to use a version that is still supported.

On a machine as old as a G3, you should have no problems with supported hardware. As for the software installation claim, I have to disagree. Software installation with a package manager makes installing software easier than any other OS I have seen.

What are the specs of your G3?

Another option would be to go to your local Barnes and Noble type shop and look at the magazines and there are many Linux mags with distros attached. One for example is Linux Format.

iPod 5th Gen
