Hello,
I'm new to the forum, so I hope I'm in the right place. I have a one year old MacPro that is only recently showing problems when I start it up in the morning. I'm thinking it's the video card (Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT), but I'm not sure. The monitor is the Apple HD Cinema Display, 30". Here's what it does: Flickers, shows "snow". I hit restart button and it starts up just fine. Happens 3 days in a row, not for 2 weeks. Then today I start it up and instead of icons, there are blocks of color. Restart, same thing, restart same thing, restart - just fine. I just bought tech tools and ran it --- it is not reporting anything. I thought I saw someone with this issue in a forum before but I can't seem to find it anymore. Any ideas? |

I have a MacPro 1.1 with two Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT cards, one driving two 19" Philips monitors and a 30" Samsung monitor on the second. Just about the time the warranty ran out on the second card, the computer began crashing coming out of sleep mode, and would restart only after multiple tries with various odd display symptoms on the 30" monitor.
The computer starts in safe mode, but still has stability issues. I yanked the 30" monitor and still crashed. I yanked the second card and everything works perfectly. My suspicion is that the bios on the card is corrupted, and that it probably could be fixed if it can be re-flashed. |
