I have an original Mac Pro. I have the current version of Leopard installed. I used boot camp to setup an XP system on its on hard drive. All of this works well. What I need to be able to do is force the XP side to boot form the superdrive on boot up so I can run my Acronis True Image software and image the XP installation.

The XP side boots well but I cannot get it to boot the bootable Acronis or any other bootable disk. Is there a key sequence or some other trick to forcing a boot from the superdrive? In a normal XP installation it will detect a bootable disk and offer to boot from it but this does not happen in the Boot camp install.

Thanks in Advance

Andy

Hold down the 'C' key during boot - this boots to the internal optical drive. Whether an EFI machine will boot to the Acronis disk or not - ??? - let us know.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.

Acronis True Image will not work that way. And even if you should somehow get it to work, it will not restore properly. The reason is that TI does not work on an EFI system. BTW, Norton Ghost has the same problem.

If you wish to make backups of your Boot Camp partition, download the free "WinClone" from here: Link

Great. It's too bad Acronis True Image will not work. It's saved me numerous times from hugh data losses on various Windows systems.
