what is the max hdd size for the emac? i've looked at everymac, and all it says is that it supports over 128gb. i'm getting a new 1tb sata in an external enclosure soon, and i'd like to move my 500gb ide into the emac to replace the wanky little 40gb thats in it now.

also, where is a good place to get the pram battery for cheap? getting tired of resetting the clock every time i unplug it (which is often...it goes everywhere...)

Your model is fine for supporting large drives. You do not give your location, however any national electrics firm would be the go, or off course you can buy online. Personally have had a great run from eBay sellers. If you are in mainland USA here is a good start and OWC are Mac specialists:-

3.6v Newer Technology Lithium 1/2 AA PRAM Com... (3.6VPRAM) at OWC

got another hdd question. i know seagate drives have been problematic of late, so i'm not looking at one of them for awhile. i've heard that the WD Green drives are where its at now.

also, how are drives from lacie?

would i be better to get this:
LaCie Big Disk Extreme+ 1TB Triple Interface Hard Drive, USB 2.0, FireWire 400/800, 32MB, 7200RPM, PC/Mac, 301199U, Refurbished at UnityElectronics.com

or get a WD Green and find a firewire case separately?

Afraid you will have to ask someone else that Only as I use Seagate drives and never had one fail plus they have the advantage of a five year warranty. Be cautious of negative reports on anything on the web as most posts are negative and not praiseworthy alas.

For batteries if you are in the State just go to ebay.com>computers>Apple and take a punt if that is what you prefer. The price from the OWC link was very competitive.
