Does anyone know about the Power Mac G4 Quicksilver processor (744MHz)
Firstly if it is a ZIF Socket Processor and secondly will it work in a PowerMac G3? As Im hoping to upgrade the Processor in my PowerMac G3 B&W.
Thanks,
Sephers.

macsales is an excellent and well-regarded resource. Click on the "G3/G4 Upgrades" tab near the top, etc. HTH.

The Quicksilver CPU will not work in a G3. Different architecture, system bus speed, AGP graphics etc etc. Rather than spend the money, over the US $100 mark and then postage etc., on an upgrade better investment would be a MDD G4 with dual processors, or if the readies run to it a G5 DP.

Ive bought a Apple PowerMac G4 MDD Dual 867GHz CPU.
That should work shouldn't it?
Description: "Up for sale is a used but perfectly working Dual 867GHz CPU that was pulled from a MDD G4 PowerMac (the one without the Firewire 800 port."

Sephers.
