Hi all,

I've been dieing you use my mac pro exclusively, but I haven't been able to due certain programs that I want to use that are windows only (and won't run under fusion) - so I'm planning on bootcamp.

But, my macpro came with the ATI 2600. I purchased an 8800gt (since the one I had didn't work right with the firmware swap), but it won't be here for about two weeks (long story).

So, I have 2 choices:

1) wait the two weeks for the 8800gt before installing windows via bootcamp

2) Install windows now, and go thru the procedure of removing the drivers for the ati card from windows before I swap the card out.

Ok - so here are my questions:

1: From everything I've seen, OSX should just accept the new card happily and go along its merry way without any intervention from me (this is one of the things that makes me so happy about OSX, it's such a pleasant change to what I've been dealing with for years )

2: Can I use a set of nvidia drivers for the 8800 for windows, or do I need to use Apples specific drivers?

3: Have there been any serious issues with changing the video card on a bootcamped windows? I can't imagine there would be, but it is windows we're talking about.

I'm so tempted to get my bootcamp install done so I can swap out the comps, and just not play the few games that I want to use (and the few other tools I have until I can afford to replace them with 100% mac (aside from EQ2, which isn't available for mac ) or play them at reduced settings until I get my 8800 - but I don't want to go thru the entire thing if there is some nightmare caveat with changing the video card with the bootcamp OS that I'm not aware of...
QUOTE Thanks
