Hello,

My mac pro froze up - couldn't click on anything.
I did a hard shut down.

Now, when I restart the machine all I get is the white background with the apple and the rotating icon... it gets stuck on this screen

I've tried restarting while holding down the shift key, but the same results.

Has anyone encounted this and found the solution?

This is my work computer and my company will have it fixed, but the guys won't be able to make it in until next Tuesday... Thought I'd try to see if there was anything I could do before then.

Thanks for any help.

If you have the original installation media for the machine try booting with it. If the machine boots OK from the DVD, run First Aid from the top menu - Disk Utility. Verify the hard drive, and if necessary, repair errors.

If you can't boot from the DVD or do not have the original installation media to boot with, then it's probably best to wait for the tech to look at it rather than mess with it.

Regards.
