A quick query. Is ram directly connected (physically) to the hard drive on a mac mini. I ask because I have just had my machine repaired, having the hard drive replaced but the ram on my machine has decreased from 2gig to 1gig. Is this because the ram is directly linked to the hard drive or has the guy in the shop stolen my extra ram?

It is not connected. If your RAM went down, then they either caused damage that prevents your computer from seeing half of it (very unlikely) or took your extra RAM.

You should contact Apple immediately and get this resolved.
