 I have a WallStreet G3 and have had issues wil a shinny new Sonnet Crescendo Card. I do not have a copy of OS9 and am running 10.2. Whenever I try to install my Crescendo card the system will click and the screen will give a quick flash and nothing for like over an hour. The original daughtercard works fine with OS10 but a little slow. Is there a fix for this. I have tried both the G3 and G4 versions of the card. I decided to stay with the G3 due to heat issues with the G4.

When I used to sell WallStreets I came across 3 of the Sonnet cards-it seems to me that you had to install software first, then do the install. Those were all G4 cards though, and the last one I sold was really fussy on memory.

So like all good Mac guys, I say try the memory first-

What does tech support say?

Still waiting on a reply, maybe I will here from them next week. Now as for memory, the memory works with the original daughtercard. As for software, the software only works if you have OS9 installed, which I do not have a copy of so it makes things a little complex on that side.

But thanks for the tip.

So I was stranded over the weekend think if I should spend anymore money on this system and purchase a copy of 9.2.1. I could have bought a mini by now. My neighbor had a copy of 8.5 p.r. and I then applied the Sonnet software and then followed with a straigh install (without xpostfacto) of OS 10.1 and then upgraded to 10.2.8 and I am working now.

Sonnet Support replied today with:
You are going to have to install a copy of OS 9 to the machine at least
temporarily so you can boot to it. Our software only works under OS 9
and not Classic. Since it doesn't work under OS X, the new processor
doesn't have a boot ROM on it so it can't boot your machine. That's
what our software does. It copies the boot ROM information from the old
CPU and installs it to the new CPU.

You can do a clean install of OS 9 and this won't affect your OS X
install. You'll have to find a copy of OS 9.

So now I wonder if I should shoot for 10.3....

Any ideas?
