Tired of waiting for your mini to ship? Head for Concord, Ca and the Frys electronics store. A friend and I went there today and they had 4 of the minis is stock...they only have 3 now, my friend brought one home...

A couple of local boys huh? I live right over the hill in Antioch, just moved out here from Walnut Creek. I'm suprised you lads could find anything in that place. It's funny that the Apple stre in Walnut Creek still doesn't have any, but a Fry's does. Strange.

Here in Modesto they have had them off and on but sell EVERY ONE the first hour they show up! The Mini is going to be a very big seller for Apple!!

I know I sure like mine after the 512 Memory upgrade. No problems installing it either.

Well not quite local, unless you call 100 miles away local... I used to live in Concord 35 years ago, boy has that place grown...Actually it was quite easy to find the Frys, just turn off on Willow Pass and head for down town and there it was....

Not really so funny, when you consider who you going to ship to first, a small apple dealer who will sell maybe 25 units for you or a big chain like Frys who will probably sell 2500 units... Besides, people who live in "The Creek" wouldn't be all that interested in a mini anyway, they all have the bucks for the PowerMac G5 2.5 with 23" screens....(G) Otherwise they couldn't afford to live there....

Finding the Frys wasn't the difficult part I was talking about, finding something IN that Frys is the problem. It my be just becasue it was brand new the last time I went, but when I was last there about 6months ago everything was disorganized and messy.

Regarding the mini's popularity in 'The Creek' you have a pretty good point. When I was there ordering up my iMac there were four other people there to order the same 20", all for their children! I wish I had this computer when I was 12! Another guy behind me ordered a BTO dual 2.5 G5 with 30" display and the huge matching speaker system (the name isn't coming to me at the moment.) I didn't hear the total but that's gotta be al least 7K. Money to burn...

Probably cause it was new. When we were there it looked rather good with things in place. We had no problem finding what we were looking for, just the looooong walk to get to it... Our biggest problem was finding a parking place within a mile of the place...

Know what you mean about the kids today... My first one had a monster 2 mz processor i think it was and a tape deck for storage...After 6 months of that I was ready for the big time, an Atari 800....with a floppy drive...man that was hog heaven...

How you like it there in Antioch? My wife came from there, her brother, sister, and nephews still live there. To darn big and crowded to suit me...

Antioch is okay. I actually grew up here, but after highschool my father did really well in his industry and my parents packed up and moved to La Jolla and I moved to a 'luxury apartment' in Walnut Creek and loved it. But once I realized I could rent out a newer home (5 years old) in Antioch for the same price as my WC apartment, I moved back out here. Being a college student, every penny saved is worth it, so knowing I'm sacing money with a larger place here in Antioch makes it worth it. Antioch is heading down hill pretty quickly though, so as soon as I finish up my degree I'm the **** out of here.

Yes, I learned that the hard way too! If you have the $$$ and see a Mini, get it now as it might not be there in even 5 minutes!

I am going to call a college bookstore tomorrow, they are listed as an Apple reseller, only place that I haven't checked that might have them.
