OK. I have a PPC g5 Dual 1.8ghz running 10.4.11...I was mixing an audio project the other night and right in the middle of my audio playing my mac just shut off!!No warnings, kernal panics, spinning ball or anything.I go to start it back up and I get the "power on sound" and it gets to the white screen right before "enter password" prompt and it just shuts off!! I was able to get it to boot using "comm + opt + o + f" and giving the command "mac-boot" but it will not start on it's own... After I finally get it to boot up, if I try to connect anything besides the keyboard, monitor, and internet, it turns off again! I was told to do a "nvram reset" but no results. I tried a "SMU" and a "PMU reset" and nothing same results- it wont boot unless I manually do so. I'm worried . Can anyone shed some light on the subject???

Umm....... Maybe a new power supply would help? Have you added any new hardware? How many devices are you running at once? Is your mac overheating? These are questions I had to ask. You'll need to give a bit more insight into your problem to get it solved...

The devices connected:
-Fantom X7 (keyboard) - USB for MIDI
-MAudio 410 (audio interface)- firewire 400
-Western digital External HD- firewire 400
and of course the keyboard, mouse, and moniter.

I hadn't had any problems with it overheating at all. And as of this afternoon, my mac wont even boot with command. All I get is a start up sound and 2 consecutive white led flashes at the power button every 4 seconds or so...I tried to troubleshoot by removing RAM,disconnecting HD's, and removing the battery and placing back in- still no response.
By the way thanks for any efforts of assistance!!!

Usually two flashes, or sometimes two beeps, is an indication of faulty RAM. Try removing RAM and using one at a time to see if one module, or more, has failed. Here is a link:-

Another possibility is this because it just happened to a pal of mine in very similar circumstances. The power unit failed.

An easy fix, but not cheap. :–(

yea the 2 flashes is due to me having trouble properly re-seating the ram... But the other problem is still unknown.I'll let you all know when I get the verdict from the service dept...By the way Thanks to all!
