Right now i have an old G4 power pc. i am thinking about purchasing the new
imac 24 inch. Does it have the same power and kick as my old one. Or what can i do to juice it up to max speed and power? Or should i wait for the next tower to come out like a G6? Can the imac play blu-ray dvds?

The new machines will blow the door off your old tower. I know, I have several of each in my lab. The technology has improved considerably since then and even the base consumer models today are "better" than the pro models of yesteryear.

Finally, no the current models do not have blu-ray players.

Buy the iMac and enjoy.
