Start with repairing permissions and clearing caches works for me. I have Macaroni doing it for me but Onyx and others like it help lots.

Well its only 2 months old, and simple tasks like opening some aplications are taking that bit longer.

Mine was same problem slow down after using the 8 month just few days ago i booked one to one class at apple store so they helped to me how to sort it and learned a lot so i think you should do same just one or two days enough i think you need to verify your disc go to application and choose utilities and open it and choose disc utilities and open it then verify repair i think you need to do that but i am not master of it so might people can advise or you wait there are some more idea thank you
ps it call geniuses bar at the apple store
