I have a 20" iMac with an Intel 2.16 processor and 1 G (2x512) of ram. We are running the Adobe CS3 creative suite and Final Cut Pro, and it feels like we are driving a car with the parking brake on.

I have just ordered 1, 2 gig stick of memory to replace one of the 512 sticks to give me a total of 2.5 gig. Do you thing that this is enought to make a noticeable difference or should I also order a 1 Gig to replace the remaining 512 stick?

Thanks,

Jeff

Just my opinion here - but you should have ordered the 4 Gb kit and maximize the memory out. The 4 Gb kit is not all that expensive. Sells for around $99 to $115 depending on where you order it from. The kit consists of two each 2 Gb modules.

OWC, Crucial, Kingston, CanadaRam, are all good suppliers to order from.

Regards.

Yeah it would be better if you run ram in pairs. For example, put 2GB of ram or put 4GB. 2 sticks of 1 gb= 2gb total ram..... or 2 sticks of 2 gb=4gb total ram........it gives better performance

2.5 gb is good for regular usage, like web browsing, itunes and other light apps. but if you are looking for heavy usage like running apps like CS3 or final cut pro u should have ordered 4 gb like chscag said.

Hope that helps!
