I bought an emac off of ebay for $60. I got it in today, popped in the 10.5 disk, installed, and rebooted no problem. I was playing around in osx when the screen just turned off. Logically I thought a reboot would fix it, but now it simply won't turn on again. I've tried swapping the memory out and resetting the pram. The system chimes to life and I can hear the hard drive loading the OS, but nothing on screen!

Is there anyway to fix this short of replacing the CRT?

System specs:
1ghz G4
80gb HD
Superdrive
1gb SDRAM
Airport Extreme
10.5.0

Macbook Air 11" 4gb, 128gb SSD (2012)
Mac Mini i5 16gb, 128gb SSD, 1tb internal, 2x 1tb external (2012)
MacBook Pro,4gb,128gb SSD (early 2008)
iMac G3 600, iPad Mini Retina 64gb, iPhone 5, and more.

your best bet is to try and connect it to A VGA monitor using this cable

also see it the emacs own video connector has come loose

I let the machine sit for about 5 minutes on startup and the screen came back on. However, I corrupted the the OSX install so I had to reinstall. I'm wondering if this is part of the screen issue with 10.5 and emacs.

Problem officially solved... for now

Thanks for your input
