chrismac, I still have one of those Atari 65XE and a 130XE both working.

My first computer besides an Atari 2600 Game Console was a Commodore 64 and later 128. I then went to an Atari 800XL then 130XE with 512K RAM I added. Those were the fun days typing in everything and waiting for games to load!

After that I went to the Atari ST as I could not afford any Mac at the time, young and broke! Then I went on to the Amiga and stuck with that for a long time. I did not get a Mac for 4 more years and then it was a used Plus that a good friend gave me for helping him with his Mac SE.

*sigh* Why is it every new user here feels the need to start a poll that has been posted many times in the past already?

Oh yes, my personal first was an Amstrad 80088. Before that, the "family" had an Apple Adam (which never, ever, got used) followed by a Commodore. My Amstrad purchase was spurred by the failure of the Commodore to meet my needs for college, which I warned my mother in advance that it wouldn't do. Instead of listening to me, she listens to my much younger brother who was in grade school. *sigh* And Rodney Dangerfield thought HE got no respect...

A TRS-80. It had 4kb of RAM.

trs-80 - Google Image Search

I think I was 7 or 8 when my dad bought it used for me. At about 10 I managed an upgrade to a used Commodore 64 with a B&W 2 knob TV for the monitor.

Those were the days...
