Help with establishing a wireless network in hotel room

I have an AirPort Express. I use it to create a wireless network in my apartment, where I have cable internet through Time Warner Cable. I have no trouble connecting wirelessly while at home.

I tried to take the AirPort Express with me to Disney last October. At Disney, the high speed internet is free but is wired, so I had hoped we could establish a wireless network for my Mac and my sister's PC. It didn't work. The AE worked the day we left, here at home, and worked the day I got home (after a call to Apple - see below).

I was reading this article that explained how to do this. Unfortunately, I still don't get it. We don't leave until May 4, but now I'm nervous (based on the blog) that I need to somehow configure my settings before we leave, while I still have the AE working, so that I can I can use the AE when we get there. I apologize that I don't remember the error I was getting, but I do know that my AE never found the connection, even with the AE directly wired via the Ethernet cable.

The blog I linked above also mentioned being able to set up profiles, one for "hotel" and one for "home". I looked at AirPort Utility tonight and didn't see an option for this. Can someone lend me a hand? I'd love to know in advance how to do this. I envision it working like this: show up and plug the AE in. Connect the ethernet cable to the AE. Configure a protected network so that no one else can use that network. Turn on the computer, open a browser, and voila! I'm connected. Should it be this easy? Do I need to set up a different profile for when we travel? How do I do that? I do remember I had to call Apple for help to reconfigure once I got home since I had somehow screwed up the setting while trying to make it work at the hotel.

If worse comes to worse, I can just connect directly. I just don't like being tied down by the cable if I can avoid it. Thanks in advance!

Since no one replied I'll jump in and maybe someone will get you more help. As a disclaimer: I don't have an Airport Express but do have a MBP. Anyway, if you can't get it to work you know you can share you connection through your airport card right? Mac OS X 10.5 Help: Sharing your Internet connection

The article seems pretty straightforward. From the comments it sounds as if you use airport express as a device on the network as opposed to being your main router. From what I gather from the comments, if you set up the express as a router at your house, when you get to disney it will be plug and play. However if you set it at your house to stream music you will have to follow the guide's directions.

Edit: I just reread. You said you use it as your main router, so disregard that part.
