airport signal goes on and off

I have an Intel Macbook and sometimes the airport signal will just start disappearing and reappearing every few seconds. It's been this for about a month now I think and its getting very annoying, once the signal starts to do this there is no way to get a proper connection except to restart the computer.

Does anyone know what this is?

You could probably start by looking for interference from another network close by or even from a device in your home. Cordless phones (2.4 GHZ models) can cause interference and so can certain microwave ovens.

Also try turning off all security and temporarily use the airport connection in the clear as a test to see if the signal stabilizes.

Regards.
