Not in my experience. At work, we refer to them as "Deathstars". Rarely have I had one live past 18 months in continuous operation over hundreds of drives. And when they die, they do so spectacularly - no bad sectors, just the drive is no longer recognized on the bus or it' ka-klacking away, and sounding like a time bomb.
Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!
