You're going to get tons of opinions...and thus you may end up being more confused by the end of this thread than you started.

In addition to the two choices you mentioned...I have an HP w2408 24" monitor...here's a review:

It has many cool features...I especially like that the monitor has the ability to rotate the screen 90 degrees...for the occasional task where a "Portrait" rather than "Landscape" orientation is needed or handy.
