My guess is the monitor itself, new, would cost close to that much. And if you look for the cost of a mac mini with those specs new or used my guess is that would probably cost you that much also ( but don't quote me on that please). As to how you would find info about your mac, in the top corner is where your basic drop down menus are. The top left should be an icon that looks like an apple and there you will find 'about this mac', also where it will tell you to operating system that is currently installed (OS ie 10.4 or whatever) and where you can update that software. Also in that dropdown menu is System preferences. Have fun playing with your settings, just try and remember if you make changes and how you did and all should go well!

i however put in a dvd and it was able to play so it has a dvd drive
i planed on switching to all mac later this summer once i saved up enough money but this was great so far for me to start learning!

also how do i find out more about this mac? what kind of video card etc
and how do i make the resolution larger? its at 1280x1024 i believe and its small for my taste!
