Help needed with Skype video and isight cam

I am using skype on my mac book pro with the inbuilt isight cam. While it works fine for skype it seems a bit dark and i cant find any way of adjusting the brightness etc. Have read the help on Skype and it says about adjusting it in the video settings but while i get the display from the cam there is no where to adjust it.
It is driving me mad as i have given up on using cam 2 cam in aMSN as that just comes up white and thought skype would be the answer for talking to friends in Austrailia.
Please any help would be appreciated.
