The contest rules for the 8th Annual Apple Design Awards are now available. The awards, which focus exclusively on Mac OS X, are designed to recognize outstanding product innovation and user experience.

Seven Apple Design Award winners and seven runners-up will be announced in these categories: Best Mac OS X Product, Best Mac OS X Student Product, Best Mac OS X User Experience, Best Mac OS X Technology Adoption, Best Mac OS X Use of Open Source, Most Innovative Mac OS X Product, and, for the first time, Best Mac OS X Server Solution.

In addition to hardware prizes, winners will receive a trophy and the right to use the associated prize logo to market their products. Runners-up will receive an award as well as the right to use the associated prize logo to market their products.

The submission deadline is April 15. The Eight Annual Apple Design Awards contest is open to developers in many regions around the world: the U.S, Canada (including Quebec this year), Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, People's Republic of China, Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United Kingdom.

The awards will be held in conjunction with the 2003 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference. This year's conference will be held in San Jose California, from May 19-23. More information on WWDC can be found at Apple's Web site.
