Final Cut Pro is a professional video editing application. It is way more than the average user will ever need or use. I personally can't see why anyone would need it if they are not in the profession. If you are looking for a video editor with a little more than iMovie, then I would suggest Final Cut Express. FCE is considerably less expensive (it only costs $300) than FCP (which costs $1300) and is still a very capable video editor.
