Thanks for the replies. I have heard Firewire is the way to go - hence the aquisition of a G-Tech Firewire/USB 2.0 HD.

I also currently own a Hammer 400 gig firewire/usb 2.0 drive as well... however, it's formated for NTFS on my PC... This presents some problems:

1) My 15" MacBook Pro has only 1 firewire input, and I'd like to use both of these drives and a mini dv camera.

2) NTFS drives for Macs will require reformating. I'm aware of FAT32's compatibilty with Mac and PC, and that changing the file system requires the loss of data on that drive. I would like to preserve the data on that drive, but am not too keen on using FAT32 for some reason... (stability/efficiency).
