I don't know if your pb has the sudden motion sensor, but why don't you just try the level widget? I just gave it a go on my 12" pb and it works, or are you saying you've tried it and it doesn't work?

I found the widget here on the original authors website and you have to use different versions for the new hi-res pbs and the older ones, did you get the right one?
