The A1278 moniker covers Macbook Pro's from 2009 to 2012.. If the MBP is from 2009, then the logicboard replacement price is a large part of the value of the MBP, if it's the newer one like from 2012, then it isn't and replacing the logicboard means you haven't eaten substantially into the MBP's value..
