Final Cut Pro X is also a good choice for someone who is adept at the current versions of iMovie. And cheap.

Not saying Adobe Premiere (or its Elements version) aren't good -- I'm sure they are -- just saying that since you're already adept at iMovie, at least LOOKING at the next (Apple) step up would seem to me to be the logical choice ...
