Are you able to use Firefox without problems? You seem to say that in your post above. We need to isolate this between something going on internally or with your connection so it's important to know if another browser is working OK.

Also, you should update your version of Snow Leopard. The latest is 10.6.7 which you can get through Apple software updates.
