I'm going to give you a backwards recommendation and say go with a 13 in MacBook Pro or MacBook Air. My reasons are this:

1) Happy wife = Happy house
2) It gives you a chance for some serious hands on with Macs and see if
a) You really want one after all
b) How much horse power you really need (trust us you can't judge this based on your windows experience)
3) You may find that you don't want either the MacPro or iMac though both or wonderful choices. You may find that a 15 in or larger MacBook Pro suits you better (and it can drive the monitor your currently own just like the Mac Pro)

I've always wanted to be smart, handsome and modest. But, I guess I'll have to be satisfied with two out of three . . .
