I am getting really frustrated with a slow system (10.5.8 on a 1.8GHZ PPC GM iMac with the max 2GB of RAM).
I look at the memory, it's not full, still >100-200MB free. CPU not busy. But transitions and stuff just seem very slow. In particular, anything to do with browsing.
I'm starting to feel it's Safari, which no longer updates under this hardware. Wanted to try Chrome...not supported, Intel only
Any had experience with Opera or anything else worth trying?
(I do run Firefox, but have that set up in a very restricted mode rejecting cookies etc when shopping at unknown sites and so on. I use Safari for frequent sites, like Amazon and forums and so on, with all cookies on. mmm, can I run multiple instances of Firefox? Or not really?)
