Hey there,
I love this forum. It my first choice for mac questions and general reading. The only issue I have is with how few posts per day we appear to get. Is there a way to boost membership? Maybe the users can spread the word...
whatcha think?
how many poste per day does the forum receive?

I think the best way to build membership is for people who are here to refer others. I was referred here by a "regular" on these forums, and so far it's been interesting (in a good way :girl: )

This forum is actually a lot more active than some of the other forums I frequent. If you select "Get New" at the top of these pages, there's almost always 4-5 pages of new stuff every day!

We get anywhere from the high hundreds to over a thousand posts a day I believe. How many were you looking for? :)

I thought it was a really active forum. Just about the right amount to keep up by "getting new" a couple times a day. But I'd be quick to refer anyone because it's such a nice, helpful and rewarding forum.

I want more MORE MORE!!!
I guess the way I use the forum is by reading only the 3 or 4 topics. Within each topic, I can get something from/contribute something to only about half of the threads. That brings the relevant posts down quite a bit....
Im only bringing this up because I think this forum is great with lots of helpul smarties.

Right now at where it is at now its hard to keep up with how many posts per day there are. It use to be nice only having one page of "get new" with in an hour and being able to read and answer them at your own time. Now when I hit get new and 5 pages come up, I am not able to read all of them in the amount of time I have. Although if one looks interesting on the 3rd page, I will read that one before the boring looking one on the second. Then later I go and read what was on the second, but sometimes just read it don't post anything.

That's cuz you're a light weight. You need to make more time.

In all seriousness though PBG4 is right...we get more posts here and it's almost impossible to follow very many of the conversations. I'd say it's just about right.

I would agree that we don't need too many more posts or posters. Just before I switched to Mac from Linux, I loaded up Ubuntu Linux on my machine and tried it out. For those of you who don't know the Linux world well, Ubuntu is viewed as just about the best thing since sliced bread in that world, and people have flocked to it. It went from nowhere two years ago to the most popular Linux distribution on the planet these days.

The net result? The support forums are just overflowing! Posts happen so fast that it is simply impossible to keep up with them. I actually gave up trying to follow them - it was exhausting!

As Goldilocks might say, Mac Forums is juuuusssssttttt right. There are lots of clever, passionate people here who clearly care about helping others and advancing the cause of Mac usage. However, there aren't TOO many such people. You can join this community and really belong. It moves at a reasonable pace. Personally, I like Mac Forums just like it is!

I love to see Apple's computer market share go up, but I know that in the process, forums such as these will eventually become swamped. That will be a shame when it happens, even though it will have been in a good cause.
