huge d&d/ad&d geek here, at least for about 10 years from ages 12-22 (then i switched to white wolf games).

the man is a legend.

I don't have the link to the article but it said he hosted games pretty much up to the day he died and basically random people would drop by his house in milwaukee(iirc) to play D&D games.

Unfortunately he was in bad health and suffering from afflictions including an abdominal anuerysm.

Poor guy.

Anyways, he's immortalized in the most famous role playing game created and will live on in everything the name D&D touches.

We all gotta go sometime, and at least he's remembered world wide for something.
